The bitter irony of life

Someone who identifies himself with the cause of Marathi Manoos felt that accepting Pakistani cricketers in India is an insult to the 26/11 martyrs. You don’t see the connection? 26/11 attackers came from Pakistan. Pakistani cricketers obviously come from Pakistan. Do you see it now? Now, that makes me wonder - What about Mumbai serial blasts? Many of those involved in those blasts hailed from Mumbai itself. Now, if we let Mumbai cricketers play in Mumbai, are we insulting someone? Let me stop this dangerous line of thought right here before some of the self proclaimed Marathi Manoos supporters actually take up this cause. Let me get back to the story that I started with.

Owner of one of the IPL teams felt that Pakistani players should have been included in the IPL teams. Mysteriously, his team did not bid for any Pakistani player. It must be a virtue not to practice what you preach, because you are allowing others to be better than you. How selfless! There were people who considered his preaching as painful as the 26/11 attack itself. And our hero, when he is not preaching he is acting in movies. The next step in logical deduction should not come as a surprise to all of you who are familiar with theory of induction. Obviously, showing movies featuring our hero will be an insult to 26/11 martyrs!

This is when the government stepped in to protect the right of an individual to make and screen mediocre movies. Last time when our state decided to protect the right of Missus of the world to wear bikinis, it made ABCL pay for it. Sadly, I don’t think there will be any such sponsor this time. The movie will run in Mumbai, those who made the movie will make their money. Marathi Manoos in whose name all this protest is made, will silently pay for it through taxes.

  1. Hi Mohan:
    Very thoughtful post.
I am reminded of one of the famous quote
"My mother practices what I preach".
It is always a good idea to delink theory and practice :-)
Well, I am not kidding. Even one of the Nobel winning economist said, "in economics, reality is to be treated as special case!".
Let us hope this is a special case and look for normal one.
    cheers
    madhu
